One bootable USB puts Omarchy on your Steam Deck.
No keyboard, no mouse — the whole install runs on the Deck's buttons and trackpads.

The name is pizza + Omarchy. Hot and ready in about five minutes! Easy as Pizza(rchy) pie.
Feels exactly like SteamOS except the desktop is Omarchy with a Steam-like on-screen keyboard (bring it up using STEAM+X). Installation is driven entirely by the Deck's buttons and trackpads. Credit goes to the Omarchy team! This is essentially a Quattro ISO slightly modified to be more deck friendly and comes with a few off-the-shelf modifications (e.g., on-screen keyboard).
Deck behaves like it always did as turning your Deck on lands you in Gaming Mode and power button puts the Deck to sleep/wake. The difference is Desktop Mode, which now drops you into an Omarchy/Hyprland desktop. Use the QAM button and menu to go back to Gaming Mode.
| A Steam Deck OLED | Verified on OLED. Not tested on the LCD model. |
| A USB stick, 8 GB or larger | Ventoy is the tested path |
| An internet connection | Required during install. Steam is downloaded from Valve as part of setup, and the installer will not continue without a connection. Wi-Fi or a dock's ethernet both work. |
| About twenty minutes | And a Deck you are willing to erase — see below |
Gaming Mode. Same gamescope session, same library, same controller behaviour.
Desktop. Full Omarchy: Hyprland, Waybar, the whole environment, tuned for the Deck's panel and gamepad. Press STEAM+X to bring up the on-screen keyboard.
Install from the Deck. Every screen is A / B / D-pad / trackpads, including typing your Wi-Fi password on an on-screen keyboard drawn right on the console.
Boots straight into Gaming Mode. Steam is installed and updated during setup.

pizzarchy-omarchy-4.0.4-2026-09-20-x86_64.iso — 6.2 GB, from the Internet Archive.
Tested and accepted by the operator on the project's own Deck OLED on 2026-09-20 — one machine, by eye. No clean-reinstall run or full hardware matrix is claimed; the build-side evidence is in the release notes.

Prerelease, not yet tested on hardware:
v2026.09.24-fast-install-v2. It asks which drive to use (internal SSD or microSD), whether you want Omarchy's pre-installs and Steam, downloads Steam with a progress bar, and installs while you answer. It passed every combination in a VM. It is split into four parts; the release notes show how to join and check them. -
Write it to a USB stick. Ventoy gets installed onto the stick once; after that you copy
.isofiles onto it like ordinary files, and it boots to a menu listing whatever you have dropped there. -
Boot it. Hold Volume Down + Power until the boot menu appears, then pick the USB stick.
-
Follow the screens. Keyboard layout, Wi-Fi, your account, then the disk. Note the Ventoy splash screen is rotated (no fix).
-
Wait. Reboots when finished, and comes up in Gaming Mode.

Needs Docker and ~40 minutes. The finished .iso lands in the build's release/ directory with its sha256. Build refuses to proceed if any of its guards fail.

iso/bin/buildOpen an issue. The most useful thing you can attach is the install record, which already carries a per-step status:
cat /var/log/omarchy-deck-install.jsonThis install replaces SteamOS. To go back, use Valve's official Steam Deck Recovery Image — see docs/RECOVERY.md for the exact steps, including restoring the stock partition layout.
A fork of Omarchy's own installer with a Steam Deck overlay: a controller-driven form layer over the install screens, an input mapper that turns the gamepad into keyboard events (including an on-screen keyboard drawn on the console), Valve's gamescope and audio DSP, and a session layer that preserves gamescope while adding a route to the Omarchy desktop.
The ISO carries a complete package mirror — around 1,300 packages — so the system itself installs from the USB stick rather than over the network. That is why the install is quick and does not fall over on a slow connection. The internet requirement is for Steam specifically, which is downloaded from Valve during setup rather than redistributed here.

28allday/deckshift, omarchy-deck-iso and omasteam are the closest neighbors. Bazzite and ChimeraOS solve Deck hardware, but not Omarchy.
docs/START-HERE.md is the entry point, and docs/ROADMAP.md has the plan. If you are using Claude Code, the whole opening prompt is:
