What is the current behavior?
In "Building a PWA with Next.js and Refine" (
documentation/blog/2024-06-25-next-refine-pwa.md), the "Generating a manifest" step links to the SimiCart manifest generator. SimiCart has removed it:https://www.simicart.com/manifest-generator.html/now redirects to the SimiCart homepage (checked 12 Oct 2026), so readers following the step land on a store page. What is the new behavior?
The step links to a working, free manifest generator with the same fields as the screenshot (name, short name, description, display, scope, start URL, theme and background colors). It also outputs the
<head>tags and warns about common mistakes, like ashort_namethat gets cut off on the home screen. One difference: icons are made with a separate icon generator on the same site rather than an upload on this page. The surrounding text ("or any site you trust") is unchanged.Notes for reviewers
Disclosure: I maintain that generator (PWA Stack). If you'd rather not link a specific tool, I'm happy to change the sentence to drop the link and keep "any PWA manifest generator you trust". The screenshot below the step still shows the old SimiCart form; the fields match apart from the icon upload, so I left it.
