Summary

  • The manual npm publish workflow (publish.yml) failed its release checks because it pinned bun-version: 1.2.0, whose native bun test runner does not expose the global describe/test/expect APIs relied on by the test suite. This is unrelated to test.yml, which already used bun-version: latest and passes.

Changes

  • .github/workflows/publish.yml: bumped both Setup Bun steps (prepare and publish jobs) from bun-version: 1.2.0 to bun-version: latest, matching test.yml.
  • CHANGELOG.md: documented the fix under the 0.0.1-rc.2 entry.

Validation

  • bun run format:check — passes
  • bun run lint — passes
  • Root cause confirmed via failed publish workflow run: ReferenceError: Can't find variable: describe under Bun 1.2.0's native test runner; test.yml's bun-version: latest config does not hit this.

Risks

  • Low risk: aligns publish CI with the already-working test CI configuration. No functional/runtime code changes.

Checklist

  • Conventional commit(s) with gitemoji used
  • Commit granularity is meaningful
  • Tests and lint were run as appropriate
  • Documentation updated if needed

The publish workflow pinned bun-version 1.2.0, whose native test
runner does not expose the global describe/test/expect APIs used by
the test suite (unlike the CI workflow, which already used 'latest').
This caused 'bun test' to fail with ReferenceError: Can't find
variable: describe during the release checks, blocking publish.
Align both Setup Bun steps in publish.yml with test.yml's
bun-version: latest.
