[Feedback] Network tool Resend and Edit and resend as fetch #457
Starting with Edge 153, the DevTools Network tool includes two new features: Resend and Edit and resend as fetch. These features are intended to replace Edit and resend in the Network Console tool in the near future.
Please try both features and let us know:
How well do they support your workflows?
What workflows or capabilities are missing compared with Network Console’s Edit and resend?
Features
Both features are available from a request’s context menu in the Network tool.
Resend: Resends the request as-is.
XHR requests are resent using Network.replayXHR.
All other supported request types are resent using a fetch() call.
This expands the former Resend XHR command to more request types.
Edit and resend as fetch: Copies the request to the Console as a fetch() call, where you can edit and resend it.
Inline comments identify the request’s execution context.
Before resending, use the Console toolbar’s JavaScript context dropdown to select the correct context.
Call for feedback
Please evaluate both features and share your feedback in this issue. Let us know which workflows or capabilities you still need before these features can fully replace Network Console’s Edit and resend.
Hi 18945015490, Could you clarify what you mean by a “binary file response”? Are you looking for a way to save the file bytes returned by the server after resending a request as fetch? An example of the response you’re working with would help us understand the download workflow you need.

Yes. For example, if the server returns a PDF file, how can I download the response?
18945015490 Right click on the request that includes the PDF, and click on "Open in a new tab".
Then, in the new tab, right click and select "Save". Let me know if that helps.
It works for most situations, but at some occasions this pdf requires a login state in the header. If I open it in the new tab, it returns "401 Authentication Required". I have to use the "Edit and Resend", include that authentication header, and resend the request to retrieve this file.

How to permanetly dismiss the 'promotional' banner "Try the new request resend features"when opening the network console? .It may be annoying.
