navigationStarted.Set()only shows that the thread started. The 200 msJoindoes not show that the thread reached_collectionLock. Without the lock, the thread can run afterResults.Clear()and still leaveSelectedIndex == -1, so the test can pass without detecting the regression.
ThreadState.WaitSleepJoinis broad, but this worker path performs no other wait, sleep, or join after the start signal. Use it as the lock-contention checkpoint, then retain the final completion assertion.♻️ Suggested fix

Does correctly remove the wrapping from PageUp and PageDown
At the moment the way page size is calculated seems wrong to me but thats a pre-existing issue I will raise separately.
Thank you for your contribution!
Fixes #4717.
PageUp and PageDown stop at the first and last results instead of wrapping around. Up and Down arrow navigation retains its existing wraparound behavior, and empty lists remain unselected.
Page navigation calculates and assigns its target under the existing collection synchronization lock. The background refresh now keeps collection updates, initial selection, and visibility changes in that same transaction, so a delayed refresh initialization cannot overwrite a page selection made after the refresh.
Validation on Windows with .NET SDK 9.0.319:
The upstream GitHub Actions Build was waiting for maintainer approval for this fork contribution. Local validation does not replace that required upstream approval.
